The Cyber Nuclear Forum (CNF) and the wider nuclear cybersecurity community mourn the passing of Steering Committee member Scott Hilts, who passed away on 23 April 2026.
Scott was widely recognized as a pioneer in nuclear cyber and information security, helping to shape the field long before cyber risks were broadly understood within the nuclear sector. Over the course of his career, Scott contributed immensely to fostering international collaboration and strengthening awareness of cyber risks affecting nuclear facilities worldwide. His expertise, leadership, and commitment helped lay many of the foundations that continue to guide the nuclear cybersecurity community today.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Scott will be remembered for his humility, generosity, and dedication to supporting colleagues across the international nuclear security community.
CNF extends its sincere condolences to Scott’s family, friends, and colleagues. His legacy and contributions to nuclear cybersecurity will continue to have a lasting impact on the field and the global community he helped build.
